Daimler DB 18 Special Sports Drop Head Coupe

Introduced at the 1948 Earls Court Motor Show, the Daimler DB 18 Special Sports Drop-head Coupe was the work of in-house coachbuilder Baker. Bodied in aluminium over a wooden frame (save for its steel wings), the model’s sleek lines concealed an unusual sideways-facing rear seat. Initially priced at 2,560 pounds, the stylish drop-head coupe remained in production until 1953 by which time approximately 608 are thought to have been sold. This specific car was acquired by the Museum through auction in Great Britain.
